Collecting birch sap - Save Our School Ep.9
Spring has sprung, and the birch trees in the forest fill with sap. The villagers of Sennoye collect it and make the traditional Russian fermented drink kvas.
This year, the foster children of Nadezhda and Valentina and their friends volunteer for the task. The children cut off the bark, make a hole and set up bottles to collect the birch sap. As the bottles fill, the kids have time to fish.
Although the fish don’t seem to be biting, the boys notice something else. A bat falls in the water and makes its way towards the shore, where the kids pull it out to examine the animal more closely.
The next day, the boys go to the forest to retrieve the bottles filled with birch sap but forget bottle caps. Will they bring it home without spilling? Find out whether the boys make it in this episode of ‘Save our School.’
