Black Lives: Truths

Residential segregation legacy keeps America divided

Fifty years after legalised segregation in the US ended; its legacy still persists in many cities across the country. Black enclaves marked by poverty, crime, and few prospect of escape are the results of city planning decisions that divided black and white communities. ‘Black Lives’ visits disadvantaged neighbourhoods in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia to hear local opinions about why racial inequality persists in the modern USA.
