Privacy and anonymity online | I am Hacked. Episode 4

You can get almost anything at the touch of a button - apps, sites and online services make our lives so convenient. But nothing is free. Swathes of user data end up at the tech companies’ disposal. Your phone knows where ‘home’ is, Instagram knows what ads to show to you, Facebook recognises your face in photos. Even though we are aware of the risks of sharing our data online, we keep letting platforms access our lives further in exchange for more utility. Many of us hardly ever read the terms of service.

While companies keep getting caught tracking and misusing users’ privacy, it’s difficult to give up the internet and devices. In the new episode of I am Hacked, we look at privacy and anonymity online and how to survive in the hyper-connected world. In addition, victims of data breaches share their tragic stories.
