Rwanda. Women in Charge

Work, pray, love: How women are reshaping country decades after genocide

With the world's first-ever female-majority parliament, Rwanda has been hailed as a role model for gender equality in Africa. Women have been at the forefront of the effort to rebuild the country following its 1994 genocide. Although they are now much more empowered, the reality is that many still struggle to complete their educations and find jobs.

RTD spoke to both women in power and those in menial jobs to find out if gender equality has truly been achieved in Rwanda or whether it's still a work in progress.
