Living Desert. The locals revitalising Inner Mongolia’s Kubuqi Desert

Inner Mongolia’s Kubuqi Desert is the seventh-largest desert in China. It covers 18,600 sq. Km. Overgrazing has caused it to spread, with sand clouds even reaching Beijing in recent years. Many locals believe success could only be found elsewhere, but RTD meets those who are convinced they can bloom the desert.
Twenty years ago, one local businessman stunned his neighbours by sinking his savings into buying acres of desert, but now, his land looks very different. As for his daughter, after studying high-end tourism in the world’s major cities, she’s returned to the dunes and camels of her childhood with big plans. So, how can the desert prove fertile ground?
