Legendary Tupolev Tu-160 Strategic Bomber Gets an Upgrade | The Kalashnikova Show. Episode 30

The Tupolev Tu-160 is a legendary strategic bomber that has gotten a new lease on life. Known as the White Swan in Russia and Blackjack in the West, the Tu-160 is a Cold War-era strategic intercontinental missile carrier. The Tu-160 is the world’s largest supersonic combat aircraft. It’s 54 metres long and has a 55-metre wing span. Its wings can sweep back from 20 to 65 degrees. The Tu-160 is also the world’s heaviest bomber, with a takeoff weight of around 275 tonnes, yet pilots say it handles like light aircraft. The upgraded version of the Tu-160 has new engines and state-of-the-art electronics that improve its performance, range, and combat effectiveness. The new Tu-160 is expected to be armed with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, apart from Kh-55 cruise missiles with nuclear warheads.
