The Tupolev Tu-95 is an iconic Russian strategic bomber. The Tu-95 originally appeared in 1955 and became a symbol of Cold War. Joseph Stalin ordered Andrey Tupolev to design a bomber that could reach the US and return home. The Tu-95 has been upgraded more than 20 times since then and remains the world’s fastest propeller-driven aircraft. The Tu-95 is a winged beast measuring 50 metres in length. It's powered by four engines and eight contra-rotating propellers. With its 50-metre wingspan, the aircraft can carry Kh-101 conventional and Kh-102 nuclear missiles up to 5,000 km.
