Pantsir: Shielding Russia. Anti-aircraft guns, surface-to-air missiles & radar in a single system

The Russian-built Pantsir S-1 system (NATO designation, SA-22 Greyhound) is a daunting combination of radar, cannons, and missiles. It can detect and take out any target, even while on the move.

Armed with 12 surface-to-air guided missiles and two dual 30mm guns, the Pantsir can strike enemies both in the air and on the ground, and it can take them both out simultaneously. Its missiles are fast, reaching speeds of up to 3,600 km/h, they can catch up with high-speed targets from a range of up to 20 km. Its guns can pinpoint adversaries up to 3 km away with a rapid rate of fire, 2,500 rounds per minute.

Warplanes, helicopters, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, tiny drones and even agents dropped by parachute; almost nothing can escape the Pantsir. This mobile air defence system has a spectacular array of high-tech equipment to hunt down its enemies; an optical tracker, acquisition radar, and tracking locator. Together they allow the Pantsir to see just about anything within a 50 km radius.

Combat Approved puts Pantsir's accuracy and efficiency to the test with experiments to see how well it can deal with cruise missiles, low-flying choppers and even a little domestic drone.
